Flower Bed to Lawn Conversion – Hedge End

Our team has a deep understanding of landscaping projects as well as turf supplies, laying & landscaping supplies.

Location: Hedge End

Project Overview:

This project involved transforming a small flower bed area, bordered by established plants, into a practical and easy-to-maintain lawn.

The existing flower bed required ongoing upkeep and regular attention. The homeowner wanted a simpler solution — a neat green lawn that could be maintained at the same time as mowing the rest of the garden.

Scope of Works:

1. Preparation of Former Flower Bed: The area had previously been used as a flower bed and contained a significant amount of manure layered across the surface. We thoroughly rotovated the manure into the soil to evenly distribute nutrients and improve soil structure.

2. Level Adjustments: As the ground had been built up to contain planting, the soil levels were banked higher than the adjacent pathway. We removed excess soil and carefully regraded the area so it sat flush with the path, ensuring a clean, seamless finish.

3. Slow-Release Fertiliser Application: A professional slow-release fertiliser was applied to encourage strong root establishment and healthy early growth.

4. New Turf Installation: Fresh turf was then laid and consolidated, creating a smooth, vibrant lawn that integrates neatly with the surrounding planted borders.

The Outcome:

The former high-maintenance flower bed is now a tidy, level lawn that complements the rest of the garden.

The new turf provides a consistent green finish while significantly reducing upkeep, allowing the homeowner to maintain the entire garden in one simple mowing routine.

This Hedge End project demonstrates how converting underused or labour-intensive areas into lawn can improve both practicality and overall garden presentation.
