I have been landscaping my daughter's back garden and needed to order 30 square metres of quality turf, so I had a look around online for local turfing companies near Southampton and found Solent Turf Supplies Ltd. On calling Solent turf supplies my call was answered by a lovely lady called Nicola, and after giving her the dimensions of the area that needed to be turfed she gave me a really competitive quotation. On delivery the driver carefully unloaded the pallet of turfs and recommended that I keep them well watered due to the weather forecast predicting a spell of hot weather coming in over the next few weeks. 5 weeks later the turf looks really good, it's lovely and green and nice and thick. I deliberately only gave the grass a very light cut leaving it a length of approximately 3 to 4 in and because of this during the hosepipe ban the terfs remained really lush and green and survived without any issue. I was so pleased with the whole process right from my initial telephone call to Nicola, through to receiving the turfs, so much so that now the really hot weather has come to an end I have now recently ordered another 34 square metres of turf for my daughter's front garden. These turfs have now been laid in the front garden for nearly 3 weeks and are looking very good. Hopefully pictures will follow at a later date. 5🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠

Having never laid turf before, and having pet dogs, I needed something hard wearing and Nicola assisted me every step of the way.  It's almost a shame that I don't have more turf to lay as I would happily use them again.  Cannot recommend highly enough!!!

How soon should I lay my turf grass for sale after it arrives?

You really want to get your new lawn laid as soon as it turns up, ideally within 24 hours. Since it is a living thing, the roots need to get back into the dirt fast so they don’t dry out. If you leave it rolled up for too long, the grass starts to turn yellow and loses its strength.

What is the best way to prepare my soil for a new lawn?

Before your turf for sale gets delivered, you need to clear away weeds, big stones, and old rubbish. Dig the soil over about 15cm deep and rake it until it feels level and firm. Creating a smooth, healthy base is the most important part of making sure the grass grows properly.

How often should I water my new turf for garden projects?

Right after you lay it, you need to give the lawn a proper soak so the water reaches the soil underneath. For the first couple of weeks, keep the turf damp, especially if the weather is dry. You can check this by lifting a corner of a roll to see if the ground below is actually wet.

When should I perform the first mowing on my new lawn?

You can usually get the mower out once the grass is about 5cm high and the roots feel firmly stuck to the ground. Put your mower on its highest setting for those first few cuts. Never take off more than a third of the grass blade at once, as that can really stress the young plants.
